2005 Taipei City Chinese Language Study Grants Are Available Now for Citizens of Houston, Texas

For the purpose of promoting city-to-city diplomacy and fostering internationalization in Taipei, Taipei City Government encourages foreign students of Taipei’s sister-cities, including Houston, to study Chinese in Taipei.
The Chinese Language Study Grant in the amount of NT$25,000 per month will be provided for each grant recipient from September 2005 through February 2006 to study Chinese in Taipei. To apply, each applicant should submit a letter of recommendation from a Taipei-Sister-City mayor.
There are a total of ten grants available this year. According to the announcement made by Taipei City Government, only students of non-R.O.C. citizenship, not of Chinese parenthood or who are not overseas Chinese students, may apply.
Taipei City Government is receiving application now through June 1, 2005.
