Minister Cheng-sheng Tu visits Houston, Introducing education policies for the next four years

The Minister of Education, Dr. Cheng-sheng Tu, visited Houston, Texas on October 28, 2004 after attending “The 2004 Overseas Summit Meeting on Elite Education” in San Francisco, California.

Minister Tu met on October 28 with outstanding Taiwanese scholars of the greater Houston area to exchange views on education reform.He briefed the main reform policies for the next four years are based on four platforms: 1) becoming modern citizens, 2) focusing on Taiwan, 3) developing a global perspective, and 4) strengthening concern for society.Under these platforms, 13 strategies and 33 action plans have been put forward by the Ministry of Education.

Minister Tu pointed out that in order to implement education policy for the next four years, the Ministry will consider continuity and innovation.He also stressed that the Ministry sincerely welcomes inputs from the outstanding scholars who are willing to share their valuable experiences.
