The 1st International Conference of Young Leaders
to be held in Taiwan *
The 1st International Conference of Young Leaders is
an international event which will bring together 200
young leaders from countries around the world. The
theme of the conference will be "Young Leader's Role
in the New Country-Enlarged Participation in Public
Affairs and Promotions of International Understanding
and Cooperation"
The conference will be held at Taipei from May 23 to
28, 1999. In the past three years, The National Youth
Commission (NYC) of the Republic of China on Taiwan
has held Asia-Pacific Young Leaders Conference,
attracting more than 500 outstanding young leaders in
the region. Through discussions, exchange of exper-
iences and cultivation of friendship, these conference
have tremendously enhanced the mutual understanding
and friendship of bright young people. In light of
this encouraging result, NYC expands the Asia-Pacific
Young Leaders Conference into this international con-
ference in order to increase the invitation and enlarge
the exchange and cooperation.
At the conference, there will be four group discussions
and two panel discussions. The four group and their
themes are as follows:
(1) Life and Culture
(2) Technology, Economy and Environmental Protection
(3) Politics and Society
(4) International Exchange and Cooperaton
The topics of the two panel discussion are:
(1) Promotion of International Youth Exchange and sharing
of Experiences
(2) Prospectus of Cross-Century International Economy and
Finance
Participants should be between the age of 18-40 years and
have prestige and potential in professional fields. They
should be fluent in English and are required to provide
recommendation from their sponsoring organization.
All applicants need to pay the registration fee of US$100,
which covers lodging, boards, tour transportation, and
insurance. The National Youth Commission will reimburse
airfare to the authors of presented papers coming from
abroad. The participants are cordially invited to submit
abstract of their papers before February 28, 1999, along
with the Registration Form and Curriculum Vitae.
